Mother's Day Gift Shopping
Mother's Day is coming up and you're panicking. What are you going
to buy and what is there for the kids to choose from that won't break
the bank? Gifts should have value to the person receiving them. That
doesn't necessarily mean the monetary value has to be high, just that
the thought comes from someone special, who took the time to consider
what that person likes.
For Mother's Day the choices are endless, whether the family wants to
each go their own way and choose something different, or whether everyone
wants to get together and give her something that is part of a 'whole'.
For example, does Mom like a particular kind of kitchen d'cor? Whether
it's cows, roosters, or geese, the price range is as wide as the kind
of items available. Let your kids browse through the kitchen d'cor section
for Mom's favorites. You'll find all kinds of items starting with pot
holders, salt and pepper shakers, coffee or tea sets, placemats, serving
trays,
wall plaques, metal sculptures, wall plaque and even wall clocks.
Let each child pick one item at the price level you fix, and then take
them to a Dollar store where they can pick out a gift bag, tissue and
bow, which is much easier for little hands to get around, then difficult
wrapping paper and tape.
If the family wants to go for more personal things, how about adding
to one of her favorite collections of figurines, or starting a new one?
Angels are very popular, as are birds, wildlife, and marine creatures
like dolphins, and they're all available in everything from frosted
glass or faux bronze, to decorative plates and LED sculptures that display
a flow of colored light when the switch is turned on.
For the Mom who loves to garden, visit the garden d'cor section for
a whole host of ideas from lawn ornaments, to house and
garden
flags, stepping stones, bird feeders and outdoor
fountains. Or how about creating your own gift basket? Decide how
much you want to put in the basket, or else purchase the items first
and then look for a basket large enough to hold what you bought, afterwards.
Start with the basics like gardening gloves, trowels, hand rakes, seeds,
knee pads, markers for vegetables and flowers, and then add the fun
stuff like a
welcome
sign for her garden, or a hummingbird feeder to help attract more
color to her flowerbeds. A roll of clear giftwrap, and a big bow, and
your
Mother's
Day gift can hold its own with any commercially arranged basket.
What you choose isn't nearly so important as having made the effort
to find something that says 'you're special, and we love you'.
