A Field Trip for Mother's Day

If you’re a mom and looking for a nice way to spend Mother’s Day for just you and your daughter, this is the perfect day to share with her one of your favorite activities or hobbies. It can be a hobby that you usually do alone or with friends, or a hobby that you may not be able to share with your husband. Make this a field trip day with your daughter. If she is a younger child, you can also make part of this trip a learning adventure.

Examples of these types of activity field trips can be:

See a show at the theater or opera. Going to see a show for the first time is always exciting for a child. You can tell her about the storyline ahead of time, as well as what to expect if she has never been to a show before. This type of activity can also get your daughter interested in taking part in performing arts or music at school, and is great for inspiring the imagination.

Go to an art, history or science museum. View countless exhibits together, as well as attend any lectures or films that the museum has that day. To make this trip more of a learning adventure, let your child to pick out a book or two at the gift shop on the way out. The two of you can read these books together. Going to a museum can also get your child involved and more interested in the arts, history or science.

Go to a dance. Whether swing, country, or whatever your favorite style, dancing is a great pastime to share with your child. Teach her some dance steps or take a dance class together and she just may become a lover of dancing, too.

Head for the outdoors. Whether hiking, biking, rollerblading, kayaking, fishing or just walking in your favorite park, you can share your love of the outdoors with her that will take her away from the everyday television and computers. These outdoor activities can also lead to a more healthy lifestyle and a relaxing pastime.

If exercising is one of your favorite activities, take your daughter with you on your regular jog, swim, or to the gym. This also helps your daughter see that exercising is a fun activity that can either be done alone or with friends and family. You can also show her the correct ways to stretch, warm up and cool down, and talk to her about how exercising helps people to relax, relieve stress, and challenge you.
